Course name: Insurance policy administration – Part B
Course identification: IDTC003
Lesson 1: Course Overview
Introduction:
Welcome to the Insurance Domain Training Center's 'Policy Administration for Personal Lines - Part
B' course’. This course focuses on Property and Casualty insurance within the 'Personal Lines' category.
It's important to note that life insurance policy services won't be covered here. The goal here is to help
information technology professionals improve their expertise in this domain. The course is designed to
build a strong foundation of conceptual, process, and product knowledge.
The main aim of this course is to deepen understanding of policy administration services. There are two
parts to this course: Part A and Part B. Part A deals with new business, while Part B focuses on policy
servicing. You're currently enrolled in Part B, which specifically covers policy transactions and services.
This first lecture is an introduction to the course.
Those who are new to insurance or haven't engaged with it before, we strongly recommend completing
our 'Introduction to Insurance' course. Understanding the new business process covered in Part A is
crucial for grasping policy administration. Therefore, reviewing Part A before starting Part B is highly
advised. Students taking this course should have a basic understanding of insurance terminology. If
you're unfamiliar with Property & Casualty insurance terms, consider taking our 'Introduction to
Insurance' course. While insurance concepts are universal, terminologies and processes can differ based
on location.
This course mainly focuses on the United States of America, so the examples and terminologies used
are more relevant to that context.
